PostSubject: Service 4wd light   Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:33 am

on my 2001 GM 2500HD, i had the service 4wd light come on. It stayed on for about a week, then went out. I noticed shortly after that i had NO 4wd control, it was locked in 2wd... So far i've replaced the selector switch on the dash and the actuator on the differential... I still have NO 4wd control.... I would think next would be the transfer case motor - does anyone know what the problem is or how to figure it out???

dont have anything like that but you checked all the wiring for it? also just read a few forums about it they said check all wiring on the switch itself cause they can get weird and also check the motor on the transfer case

yeah, my sister and brother in law live in tally and he's an attorney and can't find a firm to work with so he's doing side jobs until he does... I sold my lawn business last year due to losses... It's tough right now to find work - I managed to get in and move up pretty quick in an Electric Company locally... Good money and will always have a job...

yeah thats the way you need to do it. i did construction work at a federal prison here but that just ran out of work and construction is hurting right now anyways so theres not much and jsut between all the students and others looking for jobs here theres not much which is why my truck is still the same lol.

Bad switch or a corroded connection at the encoder motor on transfer case. Or it could be a corroded ground. Crawl under the truck at the A-pillar, driver's side (they bolt to the leg upon which the body mount fastens), and remove the bolt(s), clean the mounting area and ground eyes up, reinstall, and see if the lights go away

I've checked everything man... All the wiring and connections are great and solid... Vals Auto Repair checked it out on the machine and it said the module was bad behind the dash... I've replaced the swith and actuator thinking that was the problems... At this point, I just want it to work... lol it sucks having to watch where you go in your truck... I like to venture off too much!
